Sourdough Dinner Rolls

Sourdough Dinner Rolls

These delicious sourdough dinner rolls are soft, fluffy, lightly sweet and ready the same day.

This sourdough dinner roll recipe is an adaptation of one of my favorite yeast dinner roll recipes. I converted this yeast recipe to a sourdough recipe and love the way they turned out!

Large mixing bowl

large spoon or dough whisk

Mixer (optional)

Ingredients

Sourdough starter – just past peak will give fluffier rolls than actively bubbly

Sugar

Unsalted butter

How to Make Sourdough Dinner Rolls

Add starter, sugar, milk, butter, salt, and eggs to a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer.

Stir to combine.

Mix in 6 cups of flour.  Next, continue to add flour 1/2 cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and you have a slightly sticky, soft dough – you may not use all of the flour.

Knead dough for 5-7 minutes and cover with a towel.

Then, place in a warm spot and allow the dough to rest until nearly doubled in size (roughly 4-5 hours depending on how warm it is in the room).

Shape dough into 1½-2″ balls and place on a sheet pan.  Cover with a towel and allow 1-2 hours to rise.

Preheat oven to 350℉.
